Passively Cooled Inlets: A Simple Solution to a Complex Challenge
This whitepaper explains that heat is one of the biggest barriers to faster EV charging, as higher current generates significant temperature increases that must stay within strict safety limits. While actively cooled systems deliver the best performance by using liquid cooling to sustain very high currents, they introduce added cost, complexity and packaging challenges. Passively cooled approaches offer a simpler alternative by dissipating heat through materials, design geometry and airflow, with innovations like busbars significantly improving performance by spreading heat across a larger surface area. These solutions can extend high-current charging duration and reduce temperatures without complex cooling systems, making them a practical balance between performance, cost and simplicity f
