Supporting Multiple User Authentication Journeys Enables Modern Access Security
9 PagesThe paper explains that hybrid work, cloud adoption and rising credential attacks make static authentication insufficient. Users now have different roles, devices, locations and regulatory constraints, so each follows a unique authentication journey. Examples on pages 6 and 7 show a doctor and a factory worker requiring different methods such as PKI, FIDO, biometrics and pattern based login depending on context. Modern access security requires discovering these journeys, protecting them with flexible, passwordless and contextual MFA, and controlling them through scalable, risk based policies to balance security and user experience.
