This case study shows how NEJM Group partnered with Area9 to develop NEJM Knowledge+, an adaptive learning platform designed to improve board certification preparation and continuing medical education for physicians. The challenge was delivering engaging, efficient learning for time-constrained professionals using outdated methods. The adaptive solution personalized content based on individual knowledge gaps and learning pace, improving efficiency and engagement. Early results showed a positive association between platform use and certification exam success, demonstrating how adaptive learning can support continuous professional development and improve outcomes in highly demanding medical environments.
