AGNE Increases Grocery Selection in a Smaller Footprint
AGNE needed to significantly expand its SKU assortment, but its existing distribution center lacked the storage and picking capacity to support new categories. To overcome this constraint without increasing space, the company implemented a Dematic goods-to-person fulfillment solution using a Multishuttle automated storage system. This approach allowed Associated Grocers of New England to dramatically increase its SKU count, especially for slower-moving specialty, natural, and organic products. With a footprint of less than 5,000 square feet, the system provides more than 10,000 pick facings, delivering capacity equivalent to roughly 60,000 square feet of traditional warehouse space.
