CADY Identifies a Potential Capacitor Breach Leading to an ECO

This case study details how CADY analyzed WINT’s main board and detected a critical capacitor derating risk while the design was already in production. CADY matched the capacitor from the BOM and netlist to its datasheet and determined that its rated voltage was too close to the operating supply voltage when applying a 50% derating factor. The system flagged a potential overvoltage condition that could lead to premature failure or reduced reliability. Based on the finding, the designer marked the issue as “Need to Fix” and issued an Engineering Change Order to replace the capacitor before assembly completion. The intervention prevented field failures, ensured long-term reliability, and demonstrated CADY’s value in catching production-critical issues early.
