Case Study
Cyberbit and the State of Illinois
This case study describes how the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer, which manages $52B in assets and the state’s 24/7 ePay program, addressed an 800% increase in cyberattacks since 2019 by adopting Cyberbit’s cloud-based, on-demand cyber skills development platform. Through live-fire cyber range exercises with reverse-engineered attack scenarios and hyper-realistic environments that mirror real tools and networks, the IT staff improved detection and investigation skills and cut incident response time from one week to one hour. The program also expanded beyond IT to train ePay participants and local government units through twice-monthly Cyber Labs sessions, and the office planned a cybersecurity center of excellence focused on financial transactions.
