This case study describes how Altran applied Altair Activate and Compose to optimize the design of a hemodialysis fluidic system. Faced with long simulation times using traditional 3D CFD models, engineers adopted reduced-order 1D system simulation to explore more design alternatives quickly. By validating accuracy against experimental and 3D results, Altran achieved over 90% reduction in simulation time while maintaining precision. The approach enabled rapid optimization of system layouts and parameters, supporting faster innovation, reduced development costs, and improved time-to-market for medical devices.
