Shimano sought to consolidate distribution for its cycling and fishing businesses into a single distribution center to improve customer service and achieve economies of scale while reducing costs. Although each business serves different markets with distinct products, both manage large volumes of small items, parts, and components, creating operational synergy. The solution was a new facility featuring a Dematic Multishuttle goods-to-person fulfillment system. Compact and highly efficient, the system supports high productivity and order accuracy while minimizing floor space, enabling Shimano to streamline operations and enhance performance across both business units.
