A state-of-the-art recycled linerboard mill in the U.S. had begun a transition from OEM-supplied maintenance to in- house maintenance in 2017. It partnered with PCA to help implement work management and MRO materials management workflows beginning in 2016. The organization had successfully demonstrated incremental improvements, with OEE rising from 76% in 2016 to 78% in 2020. Nevertheless, site leadership identified several persistent challenges that threatened the long- term success of the multi-year initiative, including how best to engage and direct corporate help. Through a combination of change-management principles and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) retooling, we helped the client accelerate its rate of improvement.
