Using Altair EDEM, engineers simulated bulk material flow to visualize velocity, impact forces, and loading conditions. The analysis revealed unnecessary platework and poor belt loading. Design modifications improved material distribution, reduced chute weight by 10%, and added approximately $20,000 in project NPV. Simulation enabled early identification of operational risks, reduced maintenance requirements, and improved overall chute performance before construction.
