This case study shows how the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties improved internal medicine board exam performance by implementing NEJM Knowledge+, an adaptive learning platform, to address gaps in formative assessment and inconsistent knowledge development among residents. The challenge stemmed from poor exam results and lack of a unified, validated learning system. By introducing personalized, continuous learning tailored to individual progress, the program significantly increased pass rates and reduced training bottlenecks, with an 83% reduction in overcapacity over four years. Higher engagement on the platform directly correlated with exam success, demonstrating that adaptive learning can drive measurable improvements in medical education outcomes and progression efficiency.
