A large German shoe retail chain needed to modernize its aging telephone system, which was no longer supported by the manufacturer and unsuitable for widespread home office work during the pandemic. Employees handling administrative tasks remotely could not use their desk phones, leading to inefficient call forwarding to private landlines or mobile numbers and increased use of external lines. Outgoing calls also displayed personal numbers instead of business extensions. Although Microsoft Teams was already in use for internal communication, the company required a unified solution to enable professional telephony from the home office. A one-client communication approach was introduced to support modern, flexible, and business-ready remote communications.
