NeoPhotonics Accelerates 400G and 600G Optical Component Development by One Year
This case study explains how NeoPhotonics validated high-speed coherent optical components before suitable DSP silicon became available. The company was developing a compact 64 GBaud coherent optical subassembly for 400ZR, 600G, and future 1.2-terabit applications but lacked a way to assess full module performance. Keysight’s M8196A arbitrary waveform generator created 16-QAM and higher-order signals, the N4391C optical modulation analyzer measured coherent performance, and the N4373E lightwave component analyzer characterized electro-optic response across bias, current, and temperature conditions. NeoPhotonics demonstrated its matched 64 GBaud component suite and validated its 400ZR COSA nearly one year ahead of DSP availability.
