Pivoting from single-hospital monitoring rooms to a systemwide patient observation hub
SCL Health, now part of Intermountain Healthcare, transformed its patient monitoring approach by shifting from individual hospital monitoring rooms to a centralized, systemwide patient observation hub. Serving an eight‑hospital network across Colorado, Kansas, Montana, and Wyoming, the organization addressed critical CNA and RN staffing shortages by deploying 41 mobile bedside carts supported by a centralized team of remote patient observers. This model reclaimed valuable CNA floor time, reduced patient falls, and improved safety while maintaining high standards of care.
