Securing Legacy Utility Substations with Garland Technology and Radiflow
Utility substations often rely on legacy OT equipment and unmanaged switches that are difficult to take offline for upgrades, making modern security monitoring challenging to deploy. Garland Technology and Radiflow address this by placing a Portable Copper Aggregator Network TAP at each substation to create a complete copy of traffic from unmanaged switches. The traffic is forwarded to Radiflow sensors for real-time, risk-driven anomaly detection and prioritized threat alerts. The combined solution provides secure, continuous visibility without disrupting operations. Benefits include built-in unidirectional data-diode functionality, scalable deployment across geographically dispersed substations, TAPs that remain invisible because they have no IP or MAC address, and continued operation dur
