St. Joseph’s School for the Blind partnered with Eastern DataComm to modernize its communication and emergency notification systems across its 75,000-square-foot ADA-compliant campus in Jersey City, New Jersey. The school faced challenges with an aging legacy phone system, unreliable communication tools, and the need for a customized emergency solution tailored to visually impaired students and staff. Eastern DataComm implemented an integrated ShoreTel (Mitel) VoIP phone system combined with a customized Lockdown and Emergency Notification System (LENS). The solution included upgraded PA systems, speakers, strobes, LED beacons, pre-recorded announcements, and emergency alerts capable of initiating rapid lockdowns, evacuations, and shelter-in-place procedures, significantly improving campus
