Swisscom Secures Its Android-Based TV Platform and Adds 300,000 Homes in Nine Months
Swisscom modernized its television service by migrating from Swisscom TV 1.0 to Swisscom TV 2.0, an integrated multi-network and multiscreen platform built partly on Android. Verimatrix VCAS for IPTV was selected to secure linear, live, and on-demand content across the new environment, with deep integration into Marvell’s Armada 1500 chipset and native television players. The deployment supported 1080p broadcasting, adaptive streaming, rewind, fast-forward, live pause, and start-over features while maintaining a smooth user experience. It also created a flexible foundation for future mobile devices and multiple DRM systems. Swisscom completed the upgrade without compromising its existing network and signed up 300,000 homes to Swisscom TV 2.0 within the first nine months.
