This case study describes how the University of Maine at Augusta partnered with Cyberbit to launch the Maine Cyber Range in 2019 to strengthen hands-on cybersecurity education and expand workforce readiness across the University of Maine System, municipalities, and New England businesses through the Maine Cybersecurity Center. Serving about 300 students and industry professionals, UMA chose a hyper-realistic virtual SOC cyber range over in-house labs and “gamified” ranges to deliver full kill-chain incident simulations with commercial tools. The range enabled new academic courses like incident response and network forensics, positioned UMA as a regional cyber hub, and expanded into workforce development and competitions, helping grow enrollment, deepen government and industry partnerships,
