Verimatrix analyzed 14 Android OTT applications to determine whether they were prepared for emerging studio security requirements. Although every app used DRM or a secure video player, 93% failed to achieve the baseline level of application protection considered necessary. Only 7% received a standard-security rating, 64% provided only basic protection, and 29% had no meaningful safeguards. Many lacked certificate pinning, leaving user credentials and communications vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks.
