Telehealth by the Numbers
Telehealth adoption continues to grow as virtual and hybrid care models mature, with healthcare organizations using digital tools to improve efficiency and enhance both patient and clinician experiences, particularly in hospital settings. Data from a RAND Corporation longitudinal survey of 1,600 U.S. adults between February 2019 and March 2021 shows a sharp rise in video-based care. The share of people reporting video visits grew to nearly 20 percent by August 2020 and reached 45 percent by March 2021. Willingness to use video telehealth increased from 51 percent in 2019 to 62 percent in 2021. Physicians also report strong confidence in digital health, with most believing these tools deliver meaningful clinical and operational benefits.
