ThreatLabz 2024 Encrypted Attacks Report
This report examines how encryption has become a primary channel for cyberattacks, analyzing 32.1 billion blocked threats observed by the Zscaler cloud between October 2023 and September 2024. It found that 87.2% of all blocked threats were delivered through encrypted TLS/SSL channels, with malware accounting for 86.5% of attacks, followed by ad spyware sites and phishing. The report also highlights significant growth in encrypted phishing, cryptojacking, cross-site scripting, cloud service abuse, and AI-assisted attack techniques, while manufacturing remained the most targeted industry.
