This datasheet describes the Keysight E7770A Common Interface Unit, which converts sub-6 GHz uplink and downlink signals to higher intermediate-frequency ranges for 5G millimeter-wave testing. Acting as an upconverter, downconverter, local-oscillator source, power interface, and controller, it connects test equipment and devices under test to M1740A mmWave remote radio heads. Configuration options support IF ranges from 6 GHz to as high as 18.5 GHz and channel bandwidths up to 1.4 GHz. The modular chassis can support multiple DUT and remote-head interfaces for transmitter and receiver validation. Accurate frequency control, bidirectional paths, gain management, LO distribution, and flexible loadout configurations make the CIU suitable for characterizing 5G chipsets, devices, base stations,
