How States Can Reduce Unemployment and Attract Employers
State and local governments must improve how they manage their workforce to sustain economic growth and remain attractive to employers. Without a strong and visible talent pool, they risk losing businesses and weakening their tax base. Beyond simply having skilled workers, governments must also demonstrate the availability of talent and actively strengthen the talent pipeline by reskilling and upskilling individuals in areas aligned with employer needs. Effective job matching requires more than informal methods, calling for a standardized, intelligent approach that connects jobseekers with opportunities efficiently while supporting long-term workforce development and economic stability.
