Passive Component Modules enable in‑service fiber monitoring by allowing OTDR testing on live fibers using an out‑of‑band wavelength such as 1625 or 1650 nm. These modules feature low insertion loss, a wide and flat passband, and strong reliability and environmental stability. They are compatible with C‑ and L‑band data traffic and can be installed within minutes in various form factors. Used with systems like ONMSi, OTU‑8000, and OTU‑5000, they support remote fiber test systems and fiber‑tapping detection. A WDM adds the OTDR wavelength to the fiber, and an optional filter at the far end blocks it when needed to protect transmission equipment.
