Reimagining Employment Systems
State and local governments face significant employment challenges, highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed limitations in existing systems for processing unemployment and supporting workforce transitions. Many agencies struggled with overwhelmed processes and outdated approaches to re-employment. Current systems often rely on job seekers to interpret vague job descriptions and assess their own suitability, making the process inefficient and frustrating. To address these issues, governments must adopt more intelligent, streamlined solutions that support upskilling, reskilling, and better job matching, enabling faster re-employment and a more effective workforce development system.
