The Rise of Global Digital Jobs
The World Economic Forum’s Rise of Global Digital Jobs report, in collaboration with Capgemini, highlights how remote technologies, demographic shifts, and AI are reshaping labor markets. Today, 218 job types—73 million workers—can be performed globally and digitally, spanning accounting, finance, IT, customer service, marketing, and legal. By 2030, this could grow to 92 million, with a tilt toward higher-wage roles like software developers, risk specialists, and financial managers, while lower-wage digital jobs decline. Success depends on digital infrastructure, education, fair wages, and updated tax and labor policies. Managed inclusively, global digital jobs can address talent shortages in high-income economies while creating growth opportunities in lower-income countries.
