An international chemical group handling 20 million tonnes of goods annually sought to drastically reduce rail shunting times at one of its production sites. Traditional shunting took around 44 hours per train, creating significant inefficiencies. To optimize operations, the company planned to deploy Autonomous Guided Vehicles capable of moving loads of up to 120 tonnes, reducing shunting time by 95 percent to just two hours for around 7 million tonnes per year. Safe and reliable operation of these AGVs within general factory traffic required a high‑performance radio network with 99.9 percent availability, operating continuously to support automation, safety, and efficiency across the site.
