Magnoric used Altair SimLab to optimize the design of its magnetic refrigeration systems, focusing on the performance of spacers within active magnetocaloric regenerators. Spacer thickness plays a critical role in balancing hydraulic efficiency and mechanical durability, with thin spacers reducing pressure losses but increasing failure risk. Using multiphysics simulations combining CFD, thermal, and electromagnetic analysis, Magnoric evaluated spacer thicknesses between 0.3 mm and 0.6 mm under realistic operating conditions. The simulations showed that 0.6 mm spacers delivered the best trade-off, maintaining efficiency while improving robustness. This reduced reliance on physical prototyping and provided a validated foundation for scaling durable, energy-efficient refrigeration technologie
