The roof required long spans, minimal depth, resistance to extreme climate conditions, and no expansion joints. Using Altair S-FRAME, S-STEEL, HyperMesh, and OptiStruct, engineers modeled complex geometry, performed nonlinear analysis, and optimized steel connections. The tools enabled fast iteration, accurate load assessment, and code-compliant design. Altair solutions helped SOM deliver one of the world’s largest roof structures efficiently, meeting architectural intent, structural integrity, and tight project timelines.
