Doppelmayr, a global leader in ropeway systems, needed to redesign a structural bracket that failed fatigue testing in a gondola lift station. Using Altair Inspire, engineers conducted topology optimization to improve stress distribution, reduce weld lengths, and increase component durability. The optimized design successfully passed stringent fatigue tests, increased fatigue life by a factor of four, and reduced manufacturing costs. The new solution also lowered long-term maintenance requirements while maintaining strict safety standards. Simulation enabled Doppelmayr to meet performance targets efficiently and confidently deploy the improved design.
