Hydrogen... Can it fuel the energy transition?
Hydrogen is gaining momentum as a key solution for the global energy transition because of its potential to reduce carbon emissions across transport, industry, power generation, and buildings. While most hydrogen today is produced from fossil fuels, low-carbon alternatives such as blue hydrogen, which uses carbon capture, and green hydrogen, produced through renewable-powered electrolysis, are expected to drive decarbonization. Falling renewable energy costs, supportive government policies, and advances in electrolyser technology are improving the outlook for green hydrogen.
