Humans of New York Transforms Grand Central into an Immersive Public Art Tribute to the City
This case study presents “Dear New York,” a two-week Humans of New York installation that transformed Grand Central Terminal into one of the largest public art experiences in the city’s history. Created by Brandon Stanton, the takeover shared personal stories and portraits of New Yorkers across 150 digital screens, large-scale projections, pillars, stairways, corridors, and static displays throughout the station. The installation extended beyond visual media through live Juilliard performances and a community art showcase, creating a celebration of humanity, culture, connection, and hope.
