McDonald’s New Jersey Campaign Raises Store Visitation by 135%
McDonald’s evaluated whether out-of-home advertising could increase visits to its restaurants across New Jersey. Posters and digital bulletins ran from May 2 through September 8, 2022, and Reveal Mobile compared visitation before and after the campaign among exposed and control audiences. The group that saw the advertising recorded a visitation-rate increase of 135.45%, rising from 0.66% to 1.71%. By comparison, the control group remained nearly flat, moving from 0.73% to 0.75%. Consumers exposed to the ads were therefore 120% more likely to visit a McDonald’s location than those who were not exposed.
